| Alias cannot be copied to the destination ... Hi, I'm trying to installing some software, but I'm getting some weird hanging going on. I end up pressing the off button as my mac won't come back to me after a very long long time. When I try and move the application any where on my hard drive I get the above error message. Details of my system and drive are below: MAC OS X 19.3.9 PowerPC G5 MAC OS Extented (Journaled) Filesystem Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Dounds to me like a bad harddrive. Try checking the drive for bad clusters. Also possible is a bad memory module, but if other applications work great, slim chance. Can you save from applications to that drive ? Good luck, Kees |

| When I copy the application to the hard drive I get the error, as mentioned in the subject. So no, I can't copy the application to the hard drive. |

| What specific application are you trying to install on your Mac? Are you having any problems with any other software? Are you trying to copy to your user folder (such as your desktop), or trying to copy to the hard drive's root directory, or somewhere else (where would you like to install it, be specific and detailed about this answer?)

| OK, I don't have any problem installing software on my MAC. The version I'm running is 10.3.9, sorry for the earlier mistake. The software says it is compatible with the current mac os version I am running. I'm Trying to install the EOS utility suite of software that came with my Canon EOS Digital Camera (400D). When I try installing it my whole system hangs. The only option is to reboot via the button at the back of the computer. The software bundled in this suite is EOS Utility, Digital Photo Professional, Image Browser, Raw Image Task, and PhotoStich. I have also tried to install each of the components that make up this software by running each component directly and I get the same result. I then tried copying the install directory relating to the Digital Photo Professional softeware and I got the error message "alias can not be copied to the destination". I am doing this as an admin user. As there is an install option, I'm assuming this will be installed in the applications folder. Thanks. |

| I just installed the Canon software for my older camera, just yesterday. The installer seems to hang for about 10 minutes, and appears to be frozen during that time. If you leave it, the installer does continue on. Try it again, and give it more time to finish. The Rebel XTi is the same camera as your 400D, and here's a download page for that with updates for some of your software. You can also go to your own country's Canon web site, and check for any other updates. Canon does not also show the same updates for every country. http://www.usa.canon.com:80/consumer...&modelid=14256
