Problem with Quicktime / Flip 4 Mac

Hi guys,

Just wondering if you can help me. I am trying to listen to a live stream through a website using quicktime/flip 4 mac. It seems to work fine, it loads the audio stream, plays the audio and the 'play position' curser moves along, but the problem is, when the play position curser reaches the end of the bar, it goes right back to the beginning where it started...

Is this a common problem? If so, does anyone know how I can change it? I've tried it in Safari and in Firefox and they both appear to do the same thing.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Martin

DeltaMac will become famous soon enough
what is the question that you have? Just the position of the play cursor?
Does the audio stream work? Can you hear the audio OK, and do you hear the complete file, or does it stop in the middle somewhere?
My experience (small, though) is that the play cursor resets to the beginning when the file is has completed, when playing through Win media. I suppose that the Flip4Mac would do much the same with a Winmedia file.

Sorry if my question wasn't clear...

Basically, I'm trying to listen to a live audio stream from a radio station. It plays fine and I can hear audio no problem but then the position curser reaches the 'end' of the file it goes back to playing where I started from. In this case, there is no real 'end' to the file as it's a constant stream. So what happens is it plays, say 10 minutes of the steam then goes back to what I've already heard. Does that make sense at all?

I know, it's confusing! lol

Yes, still confusing -
I don't think the play cursor means anything on a live stream. As you say, there is no 'end', so a play progress indicator mostly is meaningless.
So, you have a stream playing, with a continuous stream (say, a radio station), works good, but suddenly stops without you doing anything?

Is this a live feed, where you connect at whatever point is playing - like a radio station - or, Is it a canned feed, where you start at the beginning every time, and stopping means that you start again from the beginning? If that is the case, then there's not much you can do, that sounds normal.

DeltaMac, yes it's a live feed coming from a radio station so it connects at whatever point it's playing. As you say, there is no 'end' as such so the indicator is meaningless but when it reaches the 'end' it goes back to the beginning, and plays what I've already heard when I connected to the stream.

I have tried it a few times today and it has done the same thing, apart from one time when it reaches the 'end' then goes back a little but carries on the sream - This is what I want, but the problem with that is, when it goes back the audio cuts out for a second, which gets very annoying!

If you want to check it out, it's www.subjam.com - it will play when you go onto the site.

The reason I want to get this sorted is because I start my show on this radio station next sunday and I want to record my show using Audio Hijack Pro but I don't want to set it to record while I'm out only to come back to 2 hours of the same thing repeated over and over.

I hope this is starting to make some sense?

It's working fine for me, I have the latest updates installed, unchecked "Play movies automatically", and "Create streaming movies" under the movies tab..

(restart your browser to apply new settings)

Hmmm... Mine seems to be very temperamental! I've got the same things unchecked in the Flip 5 Mac preferences. Sometimes the stream will go back to where I started, other times it will carry on but have a gap in the audio where it tried to carry on streaming... Very strange!

Any ideas? I'm kinda new to Macs so I'm not too sure how to solve this! I can't work out why it would be ok on yours and not mine... Odd!
