Firefox, Quicktime & embedded media The videodownloader extension for Firefox used to work very well on .flv files in Youtube, but now I get a Quicktime logo with a question mark on the embedded video area. Quicktime is able to play .flv files that have been downloaded because of a set of installed codecs, but why is it trying to take over embedded files? Is there any way of stopping it to give the extension a chance to work?

Try re-installing videodownloader to see if it'll re-takeover the .flv extension. Or check out the videodownloader site or Mozilla forums to see if there are any similar issues.

In the end, I did that, and more. I made sure my backups from my profile were up to date, then wiped out the profile and had Firefox make a new one. I then reinstalled all the backups, extensions and themes. The result was successful. Videodownload now acts as I expect.
