mp3 & audio cd not playable on hi-fi sys

System 10.3.9 on g3/400 w/pioneer 106 firewire dvdrw and lacie usb cdrw.
When burning mp3 or audio cd in either iTunes or Toast lite 5.2, the resulting CD is a "disc error" in my toshiba dvd player (it all worked under 9.1) I assume it's a CD Header/format issue (songs can be copied as data; but not played).. Toshiba says 8 char names and ISO9660, so what is different between 9.1 & 10.3.9? How can I get this fixed?
