iChat agent crashes sending file

The iChat agent crashes every time I try to send a file, any file, to anyone. I have the crash logs, and I get a window that says that I need to restart iChat and the agent will start again.

Which version of OS X and iChat do you have? 10.4.8 and hte latest iChat?
Does this happen when you send any file to any user or to always to the same user?

Still having problems

Mac OS X 10.4.8
iChat AV 3.1.7 (v444)
InstantMessenger framework v429

Everything appears to be up to snuff, but I still can't send files.

Do you use a firewall or NAT router? Then you need (and the person you are sending to) to open ports on the router/firewall to receive said files. Here is Apple's documenrts Using iChat AV with a firewall or NAT router and "Well Known" TCP and UDP Ports Used By Apple Software Products.

Airport base station, is in use. Other users on the network don't have this problem. It's frustrating.
