Internet Connect

Hi,

Is there a way to connect to the Web just once (at booting) without enabling the "Try to connect to Web when needed" option ?

What purpose and what interface?

What are you trying to connect to the internet for that the try to connect when needed option doesn't handle?

Most importantly: what is your connection type (USB xDSL/Cable modem, LAN, dial-up...)? What interface do you use (ppp0, pppoe0, en0...)?

If you're plugged into a LAN with DHCP support, you don't need to do anything to have an internet connection on boot...

I'm on 512/128 DSL via Alcatel SpeedTouch USB modem.

I'd like the Internet to connect once at startup and NEVER try to reconnect if disconnected later, as this has ruined my CD burnings more than once.

Oh, if you don't want it to reconnect why don't you just disable the "Try to connect when needed" option?

I'd like it to connect automatically on launch,
And then never to try to reconnect later.

Example:
I boot. It connects automatically.
Then I disconnect for a reason or another.
It doesn't try to reconnect at any time, except if I tell him to.

I see.

Ok, I'm not an AppleScript guru, but tinker with the idea of a script that: 1) Runs on login and 2) Runs Internet Connect to connect to the 'net.

I'm pretty sure Internet Connect is scriptable.

Then you can set it not 'to connect when needed'.
