When trying to open emails containing an WMV - I keep getting the message

Script writer cannot open files in the "Script Editor.app Document" format.

What should I do?

Get Flip4Mac

Then Get Info on the WMV file and change to open with Quicktime

Bob is right, but first get the free Flip4Mac QuickTime component
so you can play (most) WMVs:
