Yahoo Word Racer font is unreadable

On my new Mac OS X (10.4) the fonts for the game Yahoo Word Racer are unreadable. I've visited many message boards and found umpteen people complaining about the same thing. Yahoo offers no answers. I tried disabling a few fonts in my Font Book, as one message suggested. The text on the game is slightly clearer now, but still pretty awful. How can I make the font clear?
