Can't see video picture with digital camera connected to Mac. Hi, I just bought a Sony DSC-S650 digital camera and shot a 1 minute video. When I plug it into my iMac intel Core 2 Duo it imports into iPhoto and when I got to play it I get sound perfectly but no picture. The digital camera shoots in .avi so when it shows up in Quicktime it is in .avi format. The Quicktime dialogue box comes up and says I am missing some things and directs me to this other page with all these XVid and different players on there. I've loaded a few of them but still no picture showing up. Is there a specific one I should try or any other ideas? I'm having no problem importing regular photos into iphoto just the video part. Thanks, S.

If your Sony digicam mounts as a volume on the Desktop, then you can drag the videos over to your Mac's hard drive.

MisterMe, When I plug the camera in it instantly loads into iPhoto and the .avi shows up there. I can then drag that anywhere but there is no mounting shown of the camera itself. S.

My Sony shows up as a drive on the desktop. It's a DSC-T1. If you camera is new, there may be some compatibility problem. Apple's list of current compatibility: http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/cameras.html Or you could remove the memory stick and try connecting it through a cheap card reader.

sgould, It's okay someone told me that Flip4Mac should work and that I should also download Perian which worked like a charm. Since my camera imports in .avi into iPhoto there was a missing codec. Thanks for the camera list as I'm trying this camera out and may get a different one. My camera isn't even listed but it works fine now that I know what I'm doing. S.
