DVD Drive problems

I have a G4 eMac and updated to 10.4.10.

Now, I can see and burn CDs, see and burn (with toast) blank DVDs and open pre recorded video DVDs, but cannot read the data DVDs I have burnt. The mac tries to read them but then ejects the tray.

I have tried these in other machines (i also have a G4 iBook) and they can be read.

I've run out of ideas, can anyone help. please.

MisterMe will become famous soon enough
The integrity of the DVDs that you burn depend very much on your media and your drives--your burner and your reader. You can't just throw any blank DVD at any drive and expect a different drive to read it [or play it]. My suggestion is to start with high-quality media that you know will work. Make sure that your burner handles it properly and that your reader/player reads it properly. If this works, then you can then go to progressive less expensive media until you find some that is problematic.

You are not done. DVDs that you burn can lose their data over time. To mitigate this problem, keep your burned DVDS out of the light. However, it is a good idea to periodically test your burned DVDs.
