New MacBook Pro sluggish window response

Hi there,

I have a new MacBook Pro 2.4 with 2Gb of RAM. Weirdly, the UI is sluggish. When I try to drag an application window, the window doesn't move immediately but moves about a full second after I perform the drag. Other things.. like typing or application processes do not seem sluggish. The window dragging issue happens in all programs. Any ideas what could be causing this?? Suggestions? thanks.

well...

I seem to have fixed the problem.. but if someone could tell me WHAT was going on, please let me know.

I repaired permissions... that did nothing..

then downloaded OnyX and optimized the system (complete optimization), restarted, and voila, now the computer works as it should and feels like a new computer... thank heavens... any idea what could have caused that situation? or what was actually going on under the hood to make the windows not react quickly?

thanks
