| I have had this problem multiple times - I'm using a Mac OS X 10.4.9, and while playing DVDs using DVD player, the application will freeze abruptly. I can't seem to force-quit it using the "fore-quit" option - because upon reopening the force-quit window, it reappears as an active application. I've also tried the "kill" command in terminal using the pid, and that does not seem to work either. I cannot eject the disk, for it claims it's in use. The only thing that helps is a complete restart, but I run fairly time consuming simulations, and would prefer a less final solution. I would appreciate any and all suggestions, or perhaps even a recommendation to download something that might work better. Thank you for your time! |

| VLC will also play DVDs. You might want to delete com.apple.dvdplayer.plist in /(yourhome)/library/preferences. Upgrading to 10.4.10 may also help.
