[HOWTO] Change default internet browser for applications on Mac

Hi All

I have a problem in that I often flick between internet providers from the one I have at home to the one on my University campus. It means I have to change the proxy settings every time I am either at home or University which is annoyng.

I have Mozilla Firefox as my default browser as it is easier to use than Safari however when I use applications that require an internet access they always default to Safari to connect to the internet.

If Safari is not loaded and connected I get a message saying that "No internet connection can be found" even though I am connected via Firefox.

Is there anyway I can get all applications to use Firefox as the default internet browser?

I am very new to Macs so have no idea where to start!

Many thanks to anyone who can help

Safari -> Preferences -> General.

Choose Firefox as your default browser.

Please read the stickies before you post in this section. This is for providing a HOW-TO on a certain topic, not for asking how to do something.

Simbalala

Thanks for your help I have done this and it seems to work. Many thanks

Nixgeek

Thanks for the heads up but this website is well complicated and its not very clear where you can post a "[HOWTO]" question despite the thread link you posted. Will remember this for future though

Cheers for now!
