| I recently upgraded to an iMac and can't seem to figure out how to copy my DVDs. Seriously, sounds like such an idiotic question...BUT HOW DO I DO IT????! I downloaded an application called DVD Copy and it compresses them so much that the quality is bad. I'm looking for a freeware software, that will retain the quality of my DVDs. Someone please help me, and honestly....be very specific as I'm an extreme newbie! |

| Mac the Ripper (but it hasn't been updated in awhile) Handbrake (rip & export to most any Apple device in one stroke) Plus many others. Good Luck.

| Well, as for digitizing the DVD's, Handbrake is generally accepted as the best all-around application on our platform. You could also use Disk Utility to make a disk image of the DVD, although I won't get into that because it's usually illegal... right!

| so when I use handbrake, do I need to use another program in addition to this to back it up to a dvd that I can use in my player? I'm not doing anything illegal, just backing up my dvd collection because my kids destroy everything. |
