iTunes crash/freeze

I recently started having problems with iTunes while using it on my G5 iMac under OSX(leopard). Basically it crashes if i attempt to delete a music track, playlist or podcast.I just got a new iMac(24" 2.8Ghz) and assumed that the problem would be left behind. I migrated my user accounts over from the G5 but the issue remains. I have an alternative user account on the iMac and iTunes works fine in it, however on my main user account it crashes when I try to delete anything. I've been told to check permissions on all my music files but how do I do that without manually "Get Info" on each one, I have successfully imported all the music files into my alternative user account and everything works fine there. I obviously have some form of conflict, can anyone suggest a way to identify it? Thanks all.

Hi Wolfie,

Go to Applications > Utilities > and open Disk Utility. Looks like something is odd on your system, so repairing disk permissions with it could fix it. It's fast and safe, and should not take very long to run.

I have tried that but to no avail, if anything the issue is now getting worse, It tends to crash now when I am trying to sync my iPhone, I tried to re-install iTunes and the installer script crashed, luckily both worked on the second attempt. Their appears to be a conflict somewhere but how I begin to look for it I don't know.

OK run these steps are see if they help:

1) Get a maintenance program like Onyx or Yasu and run all there cleaning routines.
2) Open iTunes and open it's preferences and make sure it finds your Music library.
3) Delete any iTunes third party plugins.

Good Luck.

OK, tried all that, still no luck, I am also getting some Safari crashes, and even installer scripts crash. There is obviously a conflict somewhere but I can't sort it out. I have tried re-installing iTunes trashing the preferences, rebuilding the libarary but nothing seems to work.
