Macbook Pro Forgotten Password

Hello,
I completely forgot the password for my new Macbook pro. I tried starting up from the original install disc and resetting the password as reccomended in the manual but when I restarted from the Hard disk and was prompted for the password the new one I set was denied. Don't know if the problem occurred after reseting the password or if the new password simply wasn't saved and the old one is still in there. Regardless, now if I try to do the same and use the reset password utility again, when I select the hard disk as the location of the account where I want to change the password it says there are no accounts in that location that can be changed. I did I full re-install of the OS as well but I am still prompted for a password on startup and it isn't one I know. Any ideas? Thanks.
