| apple mail 3.1 hangs, won't preview Hello. I have just installed Leopard and am having real problems with Mail. Upon opening it everything seems to be working fine. Then - after two emails are read, mail stops showing emails in the preview window that appears below the list of emails. I have to double click on an email for it to display. Further, email addresses no longer autofill when I start typing them into the To: line. While cripplingly slow mail does still function in this limited manner. Lastly - will not quit. I have to force quit everytime. Has anyone else encountered this? Any help would be hugely appreciated. I'm on a MAC Powerbook. |

| Yes, I've also had intermittent problems similar to the ones you describe with Mail in Leopard. Mostly, Mail used to take on the order or 5 minutes to load, I couldn't apple-tab to it (had to click the Dock icon) and I couldn't quit it either. It magically fixed itself though. I know this sounds silly, but try repairing your permissions. That's the magic bullet for half of problems on OS X in my experience...

| latest... So after hours of experimenting....repairing permissions, clearing caches, removing faulty fonts... I still couldn't get mail to work properly. As I had upgraded from Tiger and had quite an extensive mail library I decided to start from scratch and that has fixed my problem. I created a new user for myself and have slowly migrated my settings and documents to this new user account and now mail is working fine. |
