trying to reinstall tiger on POwERBOOK G4

im trying to reinstall tiger 10.4.6 on a powerbook g4, the disk that i am using came with a macbook pro... will this work? becuase right now im getting this error when i try to book up the powerbook with the OS CD in there... the error is

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002E5668): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerBook5,4" .

anyone have any ideas?

Not counting the fact that it is illegal; the newer MBP disk does not work on an older PB You'll need the retail version of 10.4/Tiger or 10.5/Leopard

It does not work because the disc is made specifically for the MacBook Pro, so it has some extra stuff for it. Then the MacBook Pro uses the intel system and the powerbook G4 uses the PowerPC system. So you will have to buy the generic cd or the specific just for that Powerbook G4, because a cd for a different kind of Powerbook G4 will not work.

Yep. As the Mac OS X discs shipping with hardware are OEM and hardware bound, there is zero reason for them to contain the drivers for the other architecture.
Just use the disc that came with the PowerBook, or get the retail version.
