HD in quicktime and final cut pro

2 problems.

For quicktime, some of my files which used to play on my mac os x only have a white screen, but i can still hear the audio. what do i have to do to fix that?

and now a more complicated problem... with final cut pro 5, i have tried everything to get it to capture my video in HD. After going through the easy set up for 1080i60, i am able to control my camera through the computer, but cannot see the images on the capture screen, only the camera itself. It works fine when capturing in SD, though.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.
