ilife '08

I have a mac and I am trying to get a website going except my version of ilife is 06 so I can't use my domain name. If I upgrade to ilife 08 will my photo's be lost in a new version of iphoto? All the reviews of ilife '08 don't look that favorable. And I am worried I have about 5000 pictures that I don't want to loose? Any suggestions

Your photos will not be lost in the update process.
However before any bigger updates, it is a good practice to fully backup the important data before doing the upgrade.
