excel 2004 Tool pak and read only errors

Excel will not allow me to add the add on Toolpak and it will not let me open a fiel from my flash drive saying it is read only. It says one of three things,
An unexpected error occurred while trying to load Microsoft Framework library.

'FuncRes' cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding.

Analysis toolpak cannot be accessed the file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding.

What I have done to cause this and what I tried to do to fix it. I bought a used Macbook pro I changed the user account to my own name I was stupidly bothered by the short name being flower so used a program to change the short name. don't know if this did it but............

To fix it I have reinstalled Office twice once with just using the office uninstall program and once with the program and remove any remain thing that microsoft on it. And both times doing all the updates.

I have fixed privileges several times be fore and after. I am logged as administrator. I opened a new user and the same result. These functions work fine on my Intel Imac with the same files.

Intel macbook pro 1.83 , 1GB 667 MHz , OS 10.4.11
Office 2004 Student addition 11.4.1

If you can, I'd reinstall the operating system, anyway. You never know what was done to the system before. Might haunt you (now and) later.

I'd agree with Fryke on this one...

I've installed ToolPak successfully to use some Amortization tools, i'm using 10.4.11 and Office2004.

Don't forget to "Back Up" and reinstall the OS.

Fixed

The fix is strange. I noticed when I went to file-open in excel the first part of the files listed(recently opened) start with "no name" as there location. The only thing I could think of is my Disk icon on my desk top is Named "" nothing basically so I added a name and Everything works. Crazy!
