How to lock ichat preferences

Looking for a way to lock ichat preferences. Basically, my children are turning of the automatic chat trascription, and I want it on. Would like to know how to lock this in place.

Do you have the Developer tools installed? If so.

Set the option the way that you want it.

Then "Control" click on the "iChat.app" application in your Applications folder.
Choose "Show Package Contents", then navigate to "Contents:Resources:English.lproj:Prefs_MsgCompose.nib". Make a backup of it, in case this does not work. If you double-click it, it will open in "Interface Editor". Find the checkbox and delete it.

Restart iChat and see if it works.
