diane69 is on a distinguished road
can't open not scriptable; in this case .wmv file

What does .wmv stand for? Why can't I open this file, and so many others with my new MacBook? This stinks.

DeltaMac will become famous soon enough
Windows Media Video (WMV) is a compressed video file format for several proprietary codecs developed by Microsoft.
You can usually play a .wmv codec file with Windows Media Player, which Microsoft has discontinued as a version for the Mac. You CAN download and install Flip4Mac - http://www.flip4mac.com/download.htm
Flip4Mac has replaced Windows Media Player, and can also be downloaded from Microsoft.
Some other video players will also open .wmv files. - such as VLC; and DivX for Mac.
Are the other files that you say you can't open, also video files of some type? The mentioned video players will help.

You can also go to versiontracker.com, and search for other format files that you might download.
MPlayer is another multi-purpose player that you can donwload.
