Lost ability to take screen shots after iTunes update

I installed iTunes 4 & Quicktime 6.2 and I lost my MENU CLOCK, and the ability to take Screen Shots.

Bummer. I've upgraded 3 machines and haven't seen anything like that. Might be time to run a disk utility and make sure your backups are fresh. :-(

The reason you can't take screenshots is because the SystemUIServer, which controls Menu Extras and the screenshot function, has crashed. Try restarting and fscking, double clicking a menu item in the menu extra folder (it's in the main system folder somewhere, sorry i can't find out now) or repairing permissions.

If it's just the SystemUIServer, a simple logout/login will work (so long as you don't actually have drive damage as well).

Or a kill -HUP pid of SystemUIServer in the Terminal will get it working again. Usually when you do that, though, you have to do the same thing to the Dock, or it stops working very well.

There also appears to be a conflict with SnapzPro and iTunes 4 if you are using that. Snapz Pro quits when iTunes is brought front.
