What Software To Recover Erased Files/ Directory?

Wondering if the community can give some quick yays and nays for some of the directory/ file recovery software packages.

I have an iMac running 10.2.? and all the preferences seem to have been corrupted and all documents are missing. Yikes! Months of lost Email, Quicken and Quickbooks info, among other things the client would like back.

I have looked into Disk Warrior 3 after reading some posts here, as well as Data Rescue X and Norton. I like that Data Resue has the try before you buy feature, but it does not recover recently deleted files (I have yet to try it on the iMac because the computer is an hour and half from me right now - but I will be testing it out come Monday), I've read great things about Disk Warrior, and feel so-so about Norton from using it back in the day on system 7 (my experience was sometimes it finds things and other times...nada).

Thanks for any input, I am looking forward to reading your comments!

The only utility I've ever seen that will scavenge your drive for files you've deleted, instead of using a preventive cache like Techtool Protection, is Norton Utilities. This was way back in the day, when Norton was at v3.5 or so, but I would imagine it still has these capabilities. I suggest you look into it and use only the file recovery methods, then uninstall it.

BTW, interesting screen name.
