| Running .dmg images of CD games Hi! I am trying to load many CD-ROM educational games on to my iBook's hard drive as .dmg files so that my 4 year old does not have to use the very fragile CD tray drive. I use Disk Utility to creat a Master image of the CD-ROM. Most programs work fine (using Classic under OS X Panther). However, several slightly new games, do not run from .dmg image. When I try to launch the games (again, these OS 9 games) I get the error message: "can not find :Clifford.ief file Please insert the Clifford Learning Activities CD." So no go. Any ideas what a .ief file is and if there is a way to get around this? Thanks for any ideas. |

| check all the files against your image disk. You just may be missing some files. On the CD, make sure you scroll down the entire window. There are some folders that are hidden from immediate view and may not have been included when you made the disk image.

| Clifford.ief is probably an invisible file, to make sure no one can illegally copy the CD.

| If you make an image from the volume using Disk Utility (or the device itself!) hidden files are copied. If you are going to make images like this, make sure this is the way you do it. Never create an image yourself and copy files if you aren't the one providing the data. I have also noticed that some newer software knows the difference between a CD and a disk image while some don't. This could also cause your problem.
