I got a dud 15 inch g4 powerbook w/superdrive?

Well I just got my powerbook last week. Apparently I may have been duped by the site I bought it from? I asked for a superdrive model, and I thought thats what I got because it has the illuminated keyboard, the 512 ram.....but the apple site says that superdrive powerbooks have IDVD pre-installed so that you can burn DVDs. I do not have this program as far as I can tell. Someone also told me I should have toast pre-installed, and I dont.

HELP!

I'm pretty sure you don't ever get toast bundled with pbooks. Did you get an iLife disk with the documentation, iDVD may be on that. If you think you may have been given the wrong model, go to Applications/Utilities/Apple System profiler, that should tell you what drive you have.

Hope you haven't been duped.

It'll also help to mention where you got it from in case others have experience with the same company, good or bad.

Unhappy

According to the Apple Store web site the following software is bundled with the PowerBook
Quote:
In addition to Mac OS X, the PowerBook G4 comes loaded with iLife '04, including iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and GarageBand.

QuickBooks bundle
The PowerBook G4 also includes QuickBooks for Mac New User Edition — and you also get a collection of graphics tools including FAXstf, Art Directors Toolkit, Microsoft Office v.X Test Drive, FileMaker Pro Trial, OmniGraffle, OmniOutliner and Graphic Converter.
I have not heard of or seen Toast included in the Apple software bundle in many years -- maybe as far back as OS 8 or earlier. Some retailers have included some software titles as an incentive to purchase from them, but that is strictly the province of the retailer and those may be subject to certain dealer specified restrictions.

iDVD should be there.

If it's not, check out the software cds/dvd that came with the powerbook. iDVD and iLife should be there, toast not...

Where did you buy the mac?

Well ive determined I havent been duped. However, I still do not have ILife on this computer. Apparently it may be because I reformatted right when I got it due to some memory issues causing problems with freezing during installation.

All I have is the Panther CD, but no iLife software.....help?

You got the DVD with it, right ????

you will like to use pacifist with it, http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743 to extract the programs you want from the dvd.

i believe you have iDVD in your installation discs. There should be 2 or 3 that came with your powerbook. I bought my 15" pb late last year before Panther was installed on it. iDVD came with my original 10.2.8 OS X install discs. But when I got the 10.3 upgrade discs, I installed it and my iDVD disappeared. I didn't notice that before I installed 10.3 btw. I called Apple and the rep told me that it was in the original OS X discs. It was in the grey "Software and Restore" disc that came with my pbook. I hope this helps.
