Address Book - jumbled fonts!

Whenever I open Address Book, the characters in all of the "name" fields come up as a bunch of small jumbled numbers. The first time I used the program, everything was fine but no longer. Any ideas?

Do you still have the problem?
If so, go to Home>Library>Preferences and trash the com.apple.AddressBook.plist

Empty the trash, then open AddressBook.

Have you disabled any fonts? Some say that Addressbook acts weird if you disable the font it is using.

oh, it's so wierd. first of all, i could not find a preferences file for the address book in the library. so i couldn't trash the address book prefs. second, when i open font book to see if i accidentally disabled any fonts, font book shows NO FONTS and has a little spinning wheel in the upper left corner. so i tried to drag all of the system fonts into font book, and nothing happens - the little wheel keeps spinning, but the "font" column says "no fonts" even though i just dragged all of my system fonts into it.

i am not sure if this is a font book problem, an adress book problem, or both. i have already reinstalled OS X once to try to solve this, and it's the same thing! looks like a trip to the genius bar is in order.

You have several places where fonts sit
You have a font folder in Home>Library>Fonts. - these are what you install specifically for your own use
Another font folder Hard drive>Library>Fonts - this is where all the apps install fonts
Another in system folder(OS X)>Library>Fonts - these are the system fonts

Did you try restarting the computer - or logging out then logging in?

Have you verified and repaired permissions lately using Disk Utility?

What did you install lately? Do you have an old version of ATM installed?
