hello everyone,
does anyone know if there is software of os x that is similar to dvd x copy that windows has? tks

there are several software that do that. handbrake is a simple one, free, and works with VLC.

As Giaguara said, HandBrake is the best for DVD-to-MPEG4 conversion:

These two tools, combined, in my opinion, offer the best DVD ripping experience possible. MacTheRipper for removing encryption and copying to the hard drive, then HandBrake for converting the ripped files to an MPEG4 file.

HandBrake SUCKS. Takes WAY too long. I suggest this:

Mac The Ripper
