ODBC text driver help

Hi

I need to setup a text odbc driver on mac os x.

How do I do this?

so far I've tried datadirect and openlink but to no avail. Firstly, when trying to access 'get external data' in MS Excel an error message comes up pointing to the microsoft/mac website linking to external odbc vendors. Installing openlink enables me to no longer get the above message but I still can't use the data direct text odbc driver (openlink don't supply a text driver).

Seems I need a 'working' text driver or to configure the current one correctly. It's straight forward in windows xp as office comes with a text driver and the odbc stuff works correctly out the box.

anyone help please? if we can't get this to work, half the dept. will have to get rid of their macs and go over to pcs/XP as this functionality is crucial.

I've got the odbc/iodbc framework thing working. However I still can't find a text driver anywhere. Well, I tell a lie, I have one but it doesn't work. the odbc asks for a 'setup-file' as well as the driver itself. However, I've no idea whay the setup-file is and can't find any meaningful documentation either. anyone?
