| Problem With Mail attachment. I just recieved an email from a friend of some pictures and the attachment was "Winmail.dat" and i can't open it. does anyone know what went wrong and if i can open it? Thanks! |

| Try renaming the file. Some thing like pics should work. Then try opening it. Or Have the friend resend those pictures. Make sure he sends them as .jpg and if there are many, have him place it in a folder and have him zip it. You will be able to open it then. Tell him not to enclose it as data.

| Thanks! ![]() I did some Googling for winmail.dat and found quite a few people get attachments like i did. http://www.gpc.edu/~jbenson/resource/winmail.htm Seems liek it's a Microsoft problem. ![]() |

| Yes, this is an issue with the sender sending the email as an Outlook Rich-text email. Basically, your friend will have to go into their Outlook or Outlook Express address book, find your address, bring up the properties on it, and uncheck "Send Outlook rich-text email". Then, on resending the email, it should be OK. We see this error quite a lot at work.
