Office 2004 problem

Looking arround the net I did not find any solution.

When I start i.e. Microsoft Word or Excel I get the error message "An unexpected error occured when trying to load the microsoft framework library"

But I klick ok and the apps opens. I have tried to reinstall Office with no success

DeltaMac will become famous soon enough
I found THIS . The article applies to Office V.x but may work with Office 2004 also.

Is this just a bogus error that is not affecting anything? Or are you having other problems as well?

Also, I had similar problem with Office X in the past. It turned out to be a DIVX codec in my Quicktime Plugins that Office X did not like. Once I upgraded the DVX codec Office ran fine again. I am not sure though that this information will help. Good Luck.

Aha! (One instance where the user found a permissions problem _before_ someone asked him/her to repair permissions...) ;-)

Here we go -- ummmm.... I have the same "Unexpected error occured while trying to load the Microsoft Framework Library" too, and I followed his folder trail to the last folder -- now the question is...

HOW do I repair permissions, and on what file?

don't laff. I've been using macs since 1984. Before OSX, i kinda understood what was going on, now i'm sitting here with a Mac Pro Xeon, astounded that I can run windows crap, but still don't understand all this "library" "prefs" blah blah stuff.

thanks for your help!

Go to your Application Folder -> Utilities -> Disk Utility. That program should present you with a list of disc drives on the left. Click the one you want to repair, and then click the repair permissions button on the bottom of the page.

I ran the permissions but it didn't fix the problem for Excel. It did help it for Word tho... Should I run the repair permissions again?

thanks for your answer,

rurik
