DVD Player for External DVD Drive?

I just got a Lacie DVD-R/RW drive and am trying to play a DVD. I have a powerbook which uses Mac's DVD Player but I guess I can't use that with the external drive since it's not Apple's. Is there anyway to do this? If not, is there a similar app to the Mac DVD Player program?

I have the same setup (Lacie d2 16x DVD-+R/RW and G4 Powerbook), and I have no problems using the Mac DVD player that ships with the OS. Just start the DVD player, open the Video TS folder and then press play.

It doesn't seem to work automatically, but that's not a problem.
