Flash 2004MX Unexpected Quit on launch

I just installed Macromedia Studio MX 2004 on my PB17, 1.5 ghz, 1gig of ram. I've successfully have launch and run all of the applications in the suite, with the exception of Flash.

Flash will start loading, and as the pallets load on to the screen, the program Unexpected Quits. I've tried all the usual Apple trouble shooting- repairing permissions from the start up disk, running Disk warrior, reinstalling the Macromedia software, restarting in root user mode, copying the installers from the CD to the harddrive, and installing, trashing prefs and registering. Not sure if I missed anything.

I usually have Extensis suitcase running at all times, Adobe Illustrator 10, Photoshop 7, Microsoft Entourage 2000, Safari, and occasionally InDesign 2.02. Don't know of any potential conflicts with these.

Ironically, Flash is the program I need the most in the Suite.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

See if this helps;

1. Navigate to the user configuration folder for Dreamweaver MX by going to
<Mac HD>: Users: <USERNAME>: Library: Application Support: Macromedia: Dreamweaver MX: Configuration: Extensions
2. Create a new subfolder called "Hidden".
3. Move all the MXI files at the root of the Extensions folder into the "Hidden" subfolder.

Hi Bob, thanks for the quick reply. I've searched the root folder and could not find any MXI files in the extensions folder.

After searching the drive, the only MXI extension files I found were in the Fireworks folder.

I'm at a loss.

Maybe try turning off Extensis.

Do you have a Wacom Tablet?

Bad Font cache can cause this also. Read This

Don't have the Wacom tablet/drivers installed on this computer. I actually tried launching with all the Suitcase fonts disabled, and with Suitcase off. Still didn't work.
How can I check the font cache? I just find it strange and ironic that all the other programs in the suite work.

Unfortunately, I've exhausted Macromedia's tech support on this issue.

Strangely, I was able to get the program to run once (not sure at what step in the trouble shooting process), but this problem just reared it's ugly head again, just a few days later.

Thanks Bob. Didn't seem to work. I think it may be a registration problem. I tried the Macromedia Registration Cleaner and was able to get it running for small increments at a time in the trial mode, followed by the same unexpected quit error.

This is an Academic version. From my knowledge there shouldn't be any differences between that and the retail version. Anyway, this issue isn't covered in my class.

Well..thanks again. Hope you don't get snowed in to badly up there. Although, will make for an interesting Eagles game.
