Lightbulb Impossible discovery

For a long long time I've had my terminal and console kicking this out every time I do anything. Does anyone know what is causing it or how to get rid of it?

From the MSFT thing, it looks like it might be a Microsoft software problem. Do you have any Microsoft software running constantly, like Entourage? Also, in your Startup Items, do you have any Microsoft-related things?

No Microsoft

I don't have any Microsoft software running ... None in my startup or login items.
I've searched and searched for the cause of these errors and can't find them. I'm sure it's slowing my machine down being that before it does anything it kicks out these errors.

Do you have Toast installed? There are a few reports from a while back of Toast removing some QuickTime support files and similar errors coming up.

The error messages seem consistent with this. I do not know how to fix it but that might give you a direction to search if you have Toast installed.

EDIT: Here is a really old fix from macosxhints

http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...21211054158940

I found reports on this through Dec 2003 but nothing more recent.

Mephesto is the Man!

Sweet success! Here are the 3 culprits if anyone else is having the same problem:
Toast Video CD Support.qtx
MPG4-DIVX
MPG4

I moved these files out of the QT folder and no more messages! I don't know if video cds will still work but at least now I know what's causing the errors.

Thanks!

My terminal is snappy again! It used to require a few seconds to open, now pop, and it's there. Sweet.

Cool, glad I could help. What version of Toast do you use by the way. I have Toast 6 Titanium but never bothered to install it because I have not had a need for it yet. Now I am sort of wondering if I should at all.
