| hiya people, i wonder if any of you can help me out. i'm setting up my iMac to share certain information - most recently iCal, Address Book and Mail. my method has been to move all relevant library data (i.e. Mail/, Calendars/, Application Support/AddressBook) to /Users/Shared/, change permissions to read and write for the group i want to give access to, and then create symbolic links in the libraries of the users in place of the files and folders i've just moved out. effectively, this centralises all relevant data and then tells the mac where to find it. it's worked really well APART FROM address book. in fact all apart from one file: addressbook.data the address book opens and runs absolutely fine, but every time it is opened it resets permissions to that file to 600. ugh. the result of this is i have to reset permissions every time i want to open address book data as a different user - and that includes just starting up mail. any ideas on how to stop address book doing this? thanks. ![]() |

| It's probably coded in the program so in that case you couldn't stop it from happening, besides making it owned by root, but then it'd be quite useless.
