msn 4.0.1 update?

Ummm okay... I've been using msn 4.0 but I resently got a note that said there was an update on 4.0.1 and if you don't update you can't use 4.0.... so I clicked on update and it installed this folder with nothing in it...??? I can't use the one I had before coz I have to have the updated version in order for it to work....

Anyone else having the same problem?

Welcome to the forum Snooprat.
Im not having the same problem but i know how to fix it:

Get rid of the MSN messenger folder on your machine
Go to: the Mactopia MSN homepage and download the update there.
Install it and it should work.

On a side note, i would recommend downloading Adium X, its a far better client then the Microsoft one, supports File transfers and Display pictures. No webcam - for that you need Mercury , its a java client and its ok but a bit slow.

What happens when you open MSN again? Does it ask to update again? Maybe the update process was interrupted somewhere along the line.

If all else fails do what Browni said and delete the original MSN application from your Applications folder, then download 4.0.1 manually.

For some reason, everything has been reset. I used to have it so the Promotional Bar at the bottom of the Contact list was hidden, this wasn't a hack, just an option. I go to the option now and it's greyed out.
