Question Confused about .Mac syncing in Tiger

I have an iMac G4 and a new Powerbook G4, both running Tiger. I also opened a .Mac account.

I opened the .Mac account on my Powerbook, not that that should make any difference, but I did! The problem I have is with syncing address book. It seems that I only have proper access to update the .Mac website address book through the Powerbook. The iMac doesn't seem to be able to do it.

As far as I can tell all the iSync settings in System preferences are identical on both machines - all boxes checked in .Mac Sync System Preferences. I have tried both Manual and Automatic syncing.

If I enter the new addresses on the iMac and sync, then sync the Powerbook, the Powerbook will pick up the new addresses and send them to the .Mac website at the same time. So where did it get them from if they weren't showing on the .mac web site in the first place?

I have other Tiger problems (Popcorn, for example) but this one is driving me nuts!

This is only an assumption, but maybe your PB _is_ some kind of master .mac synch computer and the iMac _does_ kinda act like a slave? I dunno. But from what I'm reading, synching between the Macs this way still works fine, only sometimes (when adding from the iMac) changes don't show up on the web, although they're obviously there, since the PB picks them up?

Try resetting safari's cache on the imac. I had some problems with .mac syncing, but look at this one-man thread by me for some advice.

Syncing with .mac does not work

Good luck!

Thanks. That was a useful site. Sadly it didn't work (and I really thought it would!). I've found that if I uncheck and save the syncing box within Address Book on the .Mac site, and then re-check it and save, everything gets updated (have the same problem with Bookmarks, I've found). But this isn't the right way to have to do it so I'm still on the mission!
