Toast slow dooown after Tiger install

When burning a DVD image with Toast 6.0.9 on OS X 10.3.9 the process took from 5 to 7 minutes with the selection set at burn at "best" speed.
Buring the same DVD image with Toast 6.0.9 (haven't updated to 6.1 yet) after doing an update install of Tiger now takes 24 to 27 minutes.
There appears to be no unusual activity in Activity Monitor. I am somewhat suprised that Toast is only shown as using 15-20 % of the CPU.
Any ideas what is wrong. And even more important, any ideas on how to fix the problem? I've repaired permissions, run the new version of Disk Warrior. I can't believe that trashing preferences would help but I might try that.
Thanks.
John
