How to print to a windows networked printer?

Hi, I have a Hp Photosmart 7800 printer attached to a windows computer that has the wifi. How would I go about printing to that from my mac, connected to the network? I'm running Leopard 10.5.2 and when I try to add the new printer in system preferences it just won't detect the printer over the network. I have also tried typing in the ip for the windows computer in the ip tab and it says its a valid and complete address, but when I try to print to it, it gets stuck on trying to connect to it. I have also googled for the printer's drivers to install on the mac but there are none...

Any ideas how to go about setting it up?

I don't know if this is relevant to your situation as your printer isn't directly connected to your Mac, I found this:

Update Required: Mac OS X v10.5.x for HP driver v9.7

DeltaMac will become famous soon enough
I'm not sure why you didn't find drivers to download. They're at the HP web site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...=471660&dlc=en

VirgilTracy was on the right track, but wrong HP model...

Best bet is to install the drivers, and connect the printer directly to your Mac, get it to successfully print something. Then, reconnect to your network, and try to re-add the printer through Bonjour.
HP is spotty with their Mac drivers and network support, but yours might work that way.

These are older 10.4 links but maybe you should read How to Use a Printer Attached to a Windows XP Computer in Mac OS X or Printing to a printer on a Windows XP PC from a Mac running 10.4.x. You can get a good idea about XP's wackiness in printing to non-Microsoft products.

I found this link useful when I couldn't figure out how to print from my Microsoft OS PC to a printer attached to my iMac PC.

Those links just above are really useful despite their age. I've bookmarked them for future reference.

Well Satcomer, I would rather not follow all those steps because I could print wirelesly up until a week or so ago, then it wasn't working so I 'reset' it in sys preferences, but what it really did was delete it.

I think its something to do on the Windows side, I may have touched a setting. Any ideas?
