Running Mac OS 10.4.11 on a MacBook ( Intel ).

1. Unable to turn Filevault off. Have followed instructions numerous times.

2. Have lost all widgets. Tried downloading from Apple site, but none will install.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like your file vault image is damaged. The only option you have is to back up the data in the image and erase and install.

Take care

Thanks for your suggestion. I was afraid that would be your answer.
( I'm assuming a complete reinstall? )

I hadn't thought about it when I wrote, but is there any chance I can transfer something from my desktop, also running Tiger?

I copied the Dashboard application from my desktop - totally empty - but I'm still unable to install any widgets. ( Shouldn't there be widgets in the application I transferred? )

Thanks again.

George
