Description:
Hi, folks! I presently have a Gateway 2000, that I was talked into getting because I was told there's no good accounting software for the Mac (I run a wholesale/retail operation). Now, I would like to get an imac for FileMaker Pro databases and web design. I was wondering if there are any plans in the future for an imac with a 17" monitor? I can't afford a Power Mac, so I think the imac is my only chance at getting one. Also, do you know of any accounting software that would be good for a Mac (not like QuickBooks, who abandoned ship). I appreiciate your help and look forward to finally getting the computer platform of my dreams. Thanks.

A site that specializes in Mac industry rumors, MacOSRumors.com, had some comments about upcoming iMac computers here:
http://www.macosrumors.com/imac.html

In a nutshell, the going rumor is that there will be a slightly larger monitor for future iMacs, but not approaching the 17" size. Of course, this is just a rumor, and Apple is usually mum about unannounced products. But MacOSRumors was the only site I could find that mentions the display size for iMacs. So take this info with a grain of salt, since MacOSRumors has been known to be wrong before (although Apple once tried to shut them down because they were getting so much information RIGHT!).

As far as accounting software goes, I have heard good things about M.Y.O.B. Accounting. Try this site: http://www.myob.com/ As a current PC user and potential Mac user, you may like the idea of a cross-platform-compatible accounting package like M.Y.O.B. Plus, I have heard from several M.Y.O.B. users that they prefer it over QuickBooks.

I hope this information helps. Thanks for using No Wonder!
