TICKET ARCHIVE -> 20" Apple Cinema Display Problem

I recently purchased a used G4 867MHz and a 20" apple cinema display both used and from two different sources. They both seem to be working OK...just not together. When I boot up, everything starts out fine but before it can finish the monitor and computer go to sleep. The computer works fine with a different monitor. Help??

Is this one of the cinema displays with the plastic case and ADC connector?
If so this monitor derives the power it needs to operate from the computer. I recently had to replace the power supply in a G4 Quicksilver due to a bad fan and had a similar problem when the cinema display was connected. It turned out to be a defective replacement supply. However... the service tech from the store I purchased the supply suggested I first reset the PMU. This is covered by Apple here:
