My old green iMac's power chip died recently,so... I just bought a 22" Cinema Display from CraigsList. This model has a DVI connector, while some apparently had an ADC connector. I separately bought a used G4 tower Model M5183 with a Rage ATI 128 Pro graphics card with, of course, the ADC slot. I've figured out that I'll have to buy a new card, but will it work on this G4?
Also, will the hard drive and RAM from the iMac work in this G4? In searching the www I've become even more confused. One site (ADCCompatibility Labs in Cupertino) even defines M5183 models as Blue & White G3's!

Hi rick

the m5183 is a blue and white g3 machine, not a g4.

the imac uses pc66 144 pin so-dimm memory

the b&w uses pc100 3.3v, 168-pin sdram memory

Thanks Bob - I really appreciate this service, and your quick response to my question. However, your credibilty just fell a notch. The memory from my iMac, (a green G3 slot loading CD/DVD), is labelled as pc100 compliant and has the exact number of pins as the one card that came with this G4 I just bought, and is sitting in the machine right now, as is the hard drive, abeit without any mounting bracket. The model number on the back of this G4 is shown as M5183, and has a copyright date for Apple of 2000 on the same label. It's gray and silver, listed as 400 mhz, has a DVD player and Zip drive. If I've been defrauded, I'm apparently not the only one, because in your FAQ list, (http://www.macosx.com/content/faq.ph...her-Other.html), question # 244 is from someone else with a G4 model 5183. His question regarding its AirPort compatiblity took no exception to the conflict,if such exists. But all this said, I'm left just as confused as ever. I'm just wondering if a MAC ATI Radeon 32MB VGA DVI s-video tv out card, as listed on eBay, will power this 22" display?

"However, your credibilty just fell a notch"

You said your 'OLD iMac". If you had said it was a Slot Loading DV, I would have been able to give you the correct information.

You also originally said M5123 was the model. That's what I looked up. Sorry
Looking back at your question, you listed M5183 a few lines down.

The M5183 is a G4/AGP model.

These are the specs for that card;

Looks like it will work with that monitor.
