RAM Enhancer: Virtual Memory
OS Version: MacOS 8
Description:
After upgrade to OS8, can‘t stablish reliable link, well, it can‘t pass the Starting PPP… string.
I upgraded my other 2 babies, (6300-100 and 4400-200) and they‘re doing just fine.
Please HELP!!

Dear Leon, welcome to NoWonder
Presuming the PPP and Internet Setup were made correctly (for instance, there is no way you can make mistake except typos if you use MacOS Internet Assistant -- so run it OR check for typos there) I'm afraid you have a RAM problem. 16 MB of RAM are too little for the System, the PPP connection, TCP/IP and the application to work seamlessly together. You should upgrade your RAM to at least 32MB. Virtual Memory is no helper with Mac OS 8.
Also, check with your ISP if the connection settings, particularly the DNS and gateway values, are correct.

), but it does connect to the internet with 52MB of RAM in it. ) Oldie but Goldie!
