I have a Windows XP computer at home and my IPOD is synched with music on my computer at work. The computer at work was infected with a virus and now my songs are still on my ipod, but I have them on my laptop at home. How do I add the new songs from that computer onto my ipod without losing the songs I already have on there. I was told that if I do try to add them on, all my songs will be taken off. How do I do this without losing any songs. Please help. Thank you. Denise

Hi,

If your iPod is synced only to one computer, it will only add NEW songs from that computer. Thus, if you try to sync the iPod with your computer at home, the software will automatically overwrite everything. I don't believe there's an application to restrict this, but what you CAN do is try to set iTunes to manual update. You can do this in the iTunes Preferences window. Then you can just drag and drop songs into the iPod, I think.

Otherwise, if you have different songs on either computer, what you can do is use a 3rd party application to rip songs off your iPod, load them into iTunes, and then sync your iPod with all the songs. This, of course, is a long process.

Thanks,
Vishad

WOULD I LOSE ANY OF MY OTHER SONGS THAT I ALREADY HAVE DOWNLOADED ON MY IPOD IF I TRY TO DOWNLOAD THE NEW SONGS? I KNOW THAT APPLE ONLY ALLOWS THE ONE COMPUTER FOR ACCESS AND I DIDN'T KNOW IF THERE WAS A SOFTWARE THAT I HAD TO BUY TO DOWNLOAD NEW SONGS FROM A DIFFERENT COMPUTER. PLEASE ADVISE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION. DENISE

Hello,
The only way to do this would be to buy ipodcopy from: http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ipodcopy/ for $19.95 which will copy all the music off your Ipod! I hope I have been of help,

Ok, I did the drag and drop as I was told and then when I went to listen to my ipod all the songs were distorted and muffled and could not be understood. What does this mean. Is there a virus in the ipod or is something not right here? I thought I had this down, but I guess not. Now all the songs I added (43) plus the ones already on there are all distorted and cannot be understood. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!! Denise
