TICKET ARCHIVE -> Address Book being bad

If Address Book is not behaving well, do iNeed to do the re-install the entire System software thing. Throwing out Address Book prefs helped to get the main window to appear but the app is unresponsive otherwise. It does work from within Mail to choose recipients, it didn't before the prefs trashing.

Hi and welcome to macosx.com.

before going to the re-installation of AB, couyld try the follwing basic maintenance tips ?

(1) Could you try to repair permissions
(must be admin)
Launch Applications/Utilities/DiskUtility
On the left pane, select the drive
On the right, select the First Aid (or SOS) tab
Then click on repair permissions and let run; don not worry about messages like " new permissions...."
Quit DiskUtility
Shutdown and reboot

(2) could you also download macjanitor
http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_...acjanitor.html
and run the 3 maintenance scripts, which are dedicated to rebuild the link between applications and system libraries they need.

Hi Philippe

I did some searching of the Apple Knowledge base and found the answer to my problem.

My Helvetica font was turned off, once turned on via Font Book, I was back in business.
