I cannot search all items in my mac address book.
Chronos Soho Organioser works fine and searches everything. I use address when I am in a hurry as it is quicker than Chronos.

Can you elaborate on this? Specifically, what items in Address Book frames are currently selected and what happens when you try to search?

With ALL selected:
For instance I have two records/contacts with 'wells' in the name. One Wells Online and the other Wells Fargo. I type in 'wells', 'wells fargo' or 'fargo' [that is in the email address of the online record] all that comes up is wells online.
I just tried typing in wells fargo in the notes section and it started working, and stayed working even after removing the two words in notes. The problem is this is just an example.
Another example is 'Stena' I have Stena NL and Stena Line. Only Stena NL comes up.
I then click the X in the find box. All the records come up with Stena NL highlighted and then I have Stena Line next to it. Obviously this only works when I have two records with similar or duplicate names.
If there is not two records with the same name I go to organiser and find it there. Damned nuisance when I am in a hurry, and being in a hurry is my only reason for using Address
hope this makes sense, Derek

Do you get the same response when you use the Address Book widget on the Dashboard?

Yep, same result in Dashboard. Never tried that before. Then tried spotlight and up comes the two contacts in spotlight. Must be something wrong some where. Derek

What if you backup your address book (Backup command in Tiger; Export to archive in Leopard), quit Address Book, move the AddressBook folder out of ~/Library/Application Support, open Address Book, and restore from the backup (Restore in Tiger; Import archive in Leopard)?

Sorry but you've lost me. How do I back up in Tiger when I am running in Leopard?v

Since you haven't noted your OS X version in your profile, I provided instructions for both Tiger and Leopard. Naturally, pick the one that applies to you.
