I am using a power Mac G4 with system 9.2 with memory of 641 MB. (I just recently put more memory in this computer from 256MB to 641MB) because I kept getting a “out of memory” error when I go to open a file in Indesign 2.0.2 I am still getting this message with the new amount of memory. The file is 13MB that I am trying to work on and has tiffs and esp. files included in it.

Is there something I am missing to make the program work? I reloaded Indesign 2.0, ran Norton utilities, restored the desktop, I allocated more memory to Indesign, disabled virtral memory, I don’t know what else to do? Is there an extension missing or conflicting?

Should I be reloading things in some kind of order when I try to get the application to work?

Please help me with some words of wisdom. Thanks.

Hi! I use InDesign on OS X and have never used it in 9 so I might be flying a little blind here…

I would move your InDesign preference file somewhere safe but out of the Preferences folder. Then try to restart InDesign after you fully restart your computer. This will force InDesign to create a new preference file, just be aware your settings will disappear such as your window/tool placements etc. Might have a corrupt preference file. Keep the old preference file just in case all heck breaks loose. You can put it back and all will be well.

Also, system 9.2.2 was only meant for computers that only had OS X installed. Do you have OS X? If not you might consider going back to 9.1. Did this issue start after you upgraded to 9.2? Need some history on this from you to help further.

Let me know what happens.
