I cannot create PDF files from a microsoft word program.
Each time I click on the pdf tool within the program, it asks to find the print center. It opens a pop up box with the Choose application.

I scroll down to the Adobe PDF.app, with the printer symbol, but the message I get after clicking on the choose button, a pop up box tells me that PDFMAKER could not locate the Adobe PDF printer?

Thus I cannot create a pdf of a word file.

Any solutions?

Open Printer Setup Utility (Utilities folder) and click on Add. The Adobe PDF Maker should appear, select it then click Add.

Thanks for the reply.

I had done that proceedure prior to attempting to create the PDF in Word.

The Admin created a PDF printer. But still, the app in word wont recognise its existence. It keeps saying, even after cicking on on the printer image Adobe PDF.app, that it cant find the print center. it is frustrating when it appears that I have crossed all the t's and put in the dots. But something is not going right.

I, can create a PDF from the print dialogue, but why then have it as an add on in the word toolbar? I will just unclik it from the bar!

Do you have Acrobat properly installed?

Yes, in fact I have Acrobat professional 6.0 and reinstalled it, just in case it was the problem. Along with all the other apps as I have AdobeCS. Everything seems to be working otherwise.

In fact it would not create a PDF from within the app itself. It keeps telling me the file is incorrect and cannot be created?

Then you have some other type of problem. Perhaps with Word, maybe with OS X. I couldn't say for sure.

How does one find out which is the problem?

I have realised that it all worked until recently, when I upgraded from Panther to Tiger. So I do suspect the upgrade has something to do with it. other apps have developed little quirks after the upgrade. I am sure these will be ironed out in due course.

I'm not sure. I have Acrobat 6.0 as well running under 10.4.5 and have not noticed any problems. The PDF Maker seems to work fine through Word.

Where do I look to correct this?

It could possibly be a corrupted OS X installation, problem with the hard drive and/or permissions, cache file problem. Hard to know exactly. You could try repairing the hard drive and permissions, booting into safe mode or creating a new user and logging into the new user account.

Howdy!

Do not print through your ACROBAT PDF PRINTER. Just set it up for the printer you normally use, and make sure the settings are what you want the final document to be.

If that doesn't work, just use OS X's Save As PDF function through the Print dialog.

By "it" I mean set up your Print Center for whatever printer you have connected currently. If it's nothing, you don't have a printer, then and only then set up your printer as Acrobat PDF.

Hi There,

Thanks for your reply.
What it appears to me is happening, is that Tiger makes the default to its printer structure, overriding Acrobat's print to toolbar.

So, going directly to the print dialogue box an choosing Acrobat PDF Printer, is the way to go and gets the "correct" result as far as tiger is concerned.

Thanks all for your help.

Terence.
